大和薬品株式会社の米国現地法人DHD・USAは、2015年3月6日～8日の日程でNATURAL PRDODUCT EXPO WEST 2015に出展しました。同展示会はアナハイム コンベンション センター（カリフォルニア州アナハイム）において毎年実施されている、 米国最大規模のナチュラル、オーガニック、ヘルスプロダクト関連の展示会です。 今年は来場者が7.2%増加して71,000人を数え、出展社も2,700社以上に及びました。DHD・USAのブースにも、新製品の展示も手伝い多くの来場者が訪れました。大和薬品は、今後とも積極的にグローバル展開を進めていく方針です。

インドネシアからバイオブランを取扱う医師（約20名）が来日し、バイオブランのセミナーに参加しました。 横浜ロイヤルパークホテルで4月5日（日）に開催されたセミナーでは、遠藤雄三先生 （浜松医科大学 腫瘍病理学）に「Immuno-modulatory effect of BioBran in medical intelligence」と題してバイオブランについて講演していただきました。質疑応答の時間には活発な意見交換が行われ、充実したセミナーとなりました。

CAM（Complementary and alternative Medicine）Expo Dusseldorfに出展しました。 同展示会は、ヨーロッパを中心とする補完医療や代替医療に特化した展示会で、2015年4月18日にCCD コングレスセンター デュッセルドルフ（ドイツ）で開催され ました。出展企業・団体は200を数え、最新の診断や治療方法についての講演やワークショップも行われました。
気になるからだ 皮膚の病気、疥癬（かいせん）と乾癬（かんせん）
前回の疥癬（かいせん）に続いて、今回は別の皮膚の病気、乾癬（かんせん）を紹介します。この病気、「かんせん」とは言っても感染症ではなく、皮膚に生じる慢性の病気です。皮膚は、外側から表皮・真皮・皮下組織の3層構造になっています。乾癬は一番外側にある表皮の細胞が異常に増殖してしまうのです。発症の原因はよくわかっていませんが、患者数は増加していると言われます。また、メタボリックシンドロームとも関連があると指摘されるようになってきました。皮膚が円形あるいはだ円形に赤く盛り上がり、その上に銀白色のかさぶたが付着します。自覚症状として軽いかゆみを感じることもあります。発疹は頭、ひじ、ひざ、腰などにできます。
関節の痛みを合併することもあります。目に見えるところに症状が出ることなどから、患者さんは精神的にも肉体的にもストレスを感じ、生活の質が低下しています。治療では表皮の増殖を抑えるために、塗り薬、光線療法、飲み薬などが用いられます。これらを症状の程度や発疹が出ている部位に応じて使い分けます。最近は、表皮の増殖や免疫に働きかける「抗体薬」という注射薬が乾癬にも応用されています。副作用に注意しながら使用することで、皮膚の症状が大きく改善することも期待できます。

DHD・USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., exhibited at NATURAL PRDODUCT EXPO WEST 2015 on March 6~8, 2015. This exhibition is the largest natural, organic, and health product trade show in the United States, held annually at the Anaheim Convention Center (Anaheim, California). This year, the number of visitors increased by 7.2%, reaching 71,000, with over 2,700 exhibitors. The DHD・USA booth also helped with the display of new products, attracting many visitors. Daiwa Pharmaceutical plans to continue actively expanding globally.

About 20 doctors from Indonesia who handle BioBran came to Japan and participated in a BioBran seminar. At the seminar held at Yokohama Royal Park Hotel on Sunday, April 5, Dr. Yuzo Endo (Department of Oncology Pathology, Hamamatsu University School of Medicine) gave a lecture titled "Immuno-modulatory effect of BioBran in medical intelligence." We exhibited at CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) Expo Düsseldorf. There were 200 exhibiting companies and organizations, and lectures and workshops on the latest diagnostic and treatment methods were also held.

Following the previous topic about scabies, this time we will introduce another skin disease: psoriasis. Although this disease is called 'kansen,' it is not an infectious disease but a chronic condition that occurs on the skin. The skin consists of three layers from the outside: epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. Psoriasis occurs when the cells of the outermost epidermis proliferate abnormally. The cause of onset is not well understood, but the number of patients is said to be increasing. It has also been pointed out that it is also related to metabolic syndrome. The skin becomes red and raised in a circular or circular shape, with silver-white scabs attached on top. Mild itching may also be a subjective symptom. Rashes can appear on the head, elbows, knees, and lower back.
Joint pain may also be present. Because symptoms appear in visible areas, patients experience both mental and physical stress, leading to a decline in quality of life. Treatment uses topical medications, phototherapy, and oral medications to suppress epidermal growth. These are used according to the severity of symptoms and the area where the rash appears. Recently, injectable drugs called "antibody drugs," which stimulate epidermal proliferation and immunity, have also been applied to psoriasis. By using them while paying attention to side effects, significant improvement in skin symptoms can be expected.
