感谢大家的支持，《e-Kenko Kawara版》自推出以来已迎来第二年。这也感谢所有忠实读者，我深表感激。
今年是公鸡年。黄道中的“tori”指的是公鸡，而“rooster”的字是“医学”的旧字。随着医疗费用的快速上涨和混合医疗问题，医疗环境变得越来越充满挑战，作为一家负责健康的公司，我们深切感受到责任和使命的重量。
自成立以来，我们公司一直秉持“安全与保障”、“与自然和谐共处”和“循证产品开发”的企业理念，但今年我们很高兴推出一种新的食品成分——“米饭可菲兰”。
这是继“Bio Blanc”和“NKCP”之后的第三款原创产品，后者由农业、林业和渔业部经过五年资助开发。

我们开发了生物麸皮，这是一种用米糠增强免疫力的食物，以及NKCP，一种能平衡纳豆血液中溶纤活性的食物。

■ 关于大和制药株式会社的最新信息
♪ 介绍“化疗中Biobran的副作用减轻效果”。
第五届九州补充与替代医学研究圆桌会议于11月27日在福冈市举行，汇聚了众多医生和医疗专业人士。公司研发部长前田浩明发表了题为“化疗中Biobran副作用减轻效应”的演讲，引发了与医疗专业人士的积极意见交流。
自Bio Bran开发以来已逾10年，许多接受化疗或放疗的用户报告这些治疗的副作用减轻。我们公司进行了大量动物实验以支持这些努力，展示了其效果和机制。
迄今为止收集的证据如下。
（1）减少大鼠辐射暴露的副作用
（2）抗肿瘤药物对致毒大鼠的影响
（3）小鼠因抗肿瘤药物副作用减重的疗效
（4）对抗正旋硫酸钠（DSS）诱发结肠炎的保护作用
（5）抗肿瘤药物诱导和呕吐预防对雪貂的作用
◎ 在日本食品因子学会上展示了关于新材料“稻米开菲兰”的最新研究成果。
日本食品因子学会第九届年会（JSoFF）于12月6日至7日在兵库县淡路梦部国际会议厅举行，公司研发部长前田浩明介绍了新食品成分“米开菲兰”的最新研究成果。
本次报告是与大阪府大学农业生命科学研究所（北村慎一教授）合作开展的题为《以稻米成分为主要介质的乳酸细菌发酵产品的性质》联合研究成果。
该研究通过在高脂饮食的大鼠中，使用含氯非兰和含乳酸菌发酵产物30天，研究改善脂质代谢和抑制血压升高的影响。
研究结果表明，含乳酸菌的kefilan和kefiran发酵产品可能作为功能性食品成分，帮助预防和改善生活方式相关疾病。
目前，脂质代谢改善机制的进一步研究正在进行中。
我们公司的“稻米开菲兰”由东京大学乳酸细菌世界权威、名誉教授三冈富打博士研究了五年，作为农业林业省的资助项目。其主要特点是颠覆了“乳酸菌利用稻米底物发酵食品”的传统观念。已有多项测试结果发表在海外学术期刊，引起国内外关注。

我们将呈现六部分系列报道，介绍新作《米饭开菲兰》，继《Bio Blanc》和《NKCP》之后。
第五部分：“米饭凯菲兰”的多样用途 - 第二部分
我们公司的“米饭Kefilan”是基于大鼠测试结果，
（1）抑制血压升高和抗动脉硬化 / （2）肠道调节效果 / （3）改善脂质代谢效果 / （4）降低血糖效果
以及许多其他特征也变得清晰。
这次，我们将引入点（3）和（4）。
☆ 改善脂质代谢
研究研究利用高血压大鼠摄入高脂饮食，施用克菲兰及含克菲兰的乳酸菌发酵30天，以改善脂质代谢和抑制血压升高。
研究结果显示，（1）在酮类和含酮类乳酸发酵组中，脂质代谢和血压升高均有浓度依赖性改善和血压升高的改善。
（2）对大脑、主动脉和冠状动脉的组织病理学检查显示对照组基底动脉和主动脉弓内膜有脂质沉积，而接受Kefiran治疗组则病变轻微，个体数量较少。
这些结果表明，含乳酸菌的kefilan和kefiran发酵产品可能作为预防和改善生活方式相关疾病的功能性食品成分。
☆ 降血糖效果
利用糖尿病模型小鼠，研究了口服开菲兰降低血糖的效果。给药周期设定为30天。结果显示，接受开菲兰治疗的小鼠在饱腹和禁食时表现出浓度依赖性血糖升高的抑制，与对照组有显著差异。实验中观察到的现象类似于膳食纤维物理上延迟糖分吸收的降血糖机制，开菲兰被视为具有此效应的材料。

[1] “关于植物疗法”
植物疗法是一种自古以来传承在欧洲的传统医学，被认为是现代西医的起源。其中，草药在植物疗法中历史最悠久，也被用作亚洲和美洲的药物。此外，虽然草本茶在日本与草本茶直接联系在一起，但在英国、德国和法国等国也有许多草药被用作药品。
在美国，草药近年来被广泛用作膳食补充剂，这得益于1994年颁布的新膳食补充剂法律——DSHEA法案（膳食补充剂健康与教育法案），并于1999年实施。
与欧洲相比，欧洲的监管更严格，而美国的草药像维生素一样免费销售，价格相对实惠，因此据说草药市场年年增长。
植物疗法是一种利用植物中活性成分的药物，这在印度的阿育吠陀和中草药等其他传统医学中也很常见，使其成为医学的真正起源。
西医常用的化学品在治疗特定症状方面非常有效，但副作用也令人担忧;这一反思提升了人们对植物力量的期待。这种利用天然物质的方法是替代医学中最古老且最具代表性的。
在我们周围，植物疗法也开始被重新评估，不仅用于治疗传统疾病，也作为预防和维持健康的健康方法。
在日本，和美国一样，天然产品提取物难以获得药品批准，但据报道，美国FDA正在考虑将草本制剂作为药品批准，因此这一趋势预计也会蔓延到日本。

DHEA——你造不出超人
你听说过一种叫DHEA的补充剂吗？它的官方成分名称是“脱氢表雄酮”。它在美国作为补充剂销售，如果单独进口，也可以在日本使用。
这些物质最初存在于体内，达到峰值时为二十多岁，随后随着年龄增长逐渐减少。还有报道称它们与延长寿命有关，引发了可能属于抗衰老成分的猜测。
2004年11月发表在美国医学期刊上的一项研究将56名年龄相关身体衰退的男女分为两组：一组每天服用50毫克DHEA补充剂，另一组服用安慰剂。六个月后，安慰剂组内脏脂肪面积增加了2平方厘米，而DHEA组减少了13平方厘米。皮下脂肪也呈现出类似趋势。
人体研究还显示了骨密度增加和性兴趣提升等效果。虽然抗衰老潜力存在，但一些专家目前建议使用时应谨慎。
这是因为其在体内的功能及其长期影响尚不明确。
DHEA在体内被转化为性激素，因此性激素水平升高可能对身体产生负面影响。
然而，虽然它被称为抗衰老，但它并不是“造就超人（女性）”的东西（比如法国的博医生和其他人）。
有一件事似乎是确定的。

包括轻度高血压在内，我国30岁以上的高血压患者估计有3000万人。高血压带来的损害会波及心脏、大脑、肾脏等主要器官。因此，中老年人的血压控制与肥胖、糖尿病、高脂血症防治一样，是预防动脉硬化的重要手段。
年轻时，定期健康检查的血压测量就足够了，但对于有高血压家族史的人、容易合并高血压的肥胖者，尤其是内脏脂肪型肥胖者、2型糖尿病患者、高脂血症患者，通过自我测量血压进行血压监测是不可缺少的。
在医疗机构等进行血压测量时，会出现所谓“白大衣高血压”的情况，即血压值比日常生活中的血压值高。
例如，中度高血压患者接受药物治疗时，如果仅根据医疗机构的血压值进行治疗，可能会出现日常生活中血压降得过低的情况。因此，若被诊断为高血压，并进行高血压治疗时，自我测量血压进行管理是不可缺少的。
此时，应使用测量上臂或手腕的血压计，记录一天的血压变化，为治疗提供参考。
另外，医疗机构测得的血压值，如果收缩压（上压）≥140mmHg，舒张压（下压）≥90mmHg，就被诊断为异常（高血压）。
相应的家庭血压，由于扣除了白大衣高血压的影响，上压为135mmHg，下压为80mmHg以下为宜进行控制。

明けましておめでとうございます。
お蔭さまで、「ｅ―健康かわら版」も創刊から２年目をむかえることができました。これも、偏に皆さま愛読者のお蔭と、心から感謝申し上げます。
さて、今年は酉年。十二支でいわれるトリとは鶏のことですが、酉の文字は「医」の古い文字の一部になっています。医療費の急増や混合医療の問題など、医療をめぐる環境はますます厳しくなっており、健康を担う企業として責任と使命の重さを痛感しております。
当社は、創業以来「安心・安全」「自然との調和」「エビデンス重視の商品開発」を企業コンセプトに掲げて活動してまいりましたが、今年は新食品素材「米ケフィラン」を発売する運びとなりました。
これは、「バイオブラン」「ＮＫＣＰ」に次ぐ第三のオリジナル商品で、農林水産省の助成事業として５年間にわたり開発を進めていたものです。
すでに多くの企業から引き合いがきております。
エビデンスに基づいた商品として、当社の商品を採用していただく医療機関が国内外で増えておりますが、海外については、「バイオブラン」がすでに世界２７カ国で販売されているなど、市場を着実に広げております。

新年明けましておめでとうございます。
大和薬品（株）は伝統食にオリジンを求め、新規機能性食品素材の開発を行っていることは皆様御承知のことと存じます。
米ぬかから免疫強化食品バイオブラン、納豆から血液の線溶活性バランスに働く食品ＮＫＣＰを開発しました。

■大和薬品(株)関連最新情報
◎「バイオブラン」の化学療法における副作用軽減作用について発表。
第５回九州補完代替医療研究懇話会が１１月２７日、多数のドクター、医療関係者を集めて福岡市で開催され、弊社・前田浩明研究開発部長は、「化学療法におけるバイオブランの副作用軽減作用」について発表、医療関係者と活発な意見交換が行われました。
バイオブランについては開発から10年以上経過、これまでに化学療法あるいは放射線治療中の飲用者からこれらの治療による副作用が軽減されたとの声が多く寄せられており、当社ではその裏づけとなる動物実験を数多く実施、その効果とメカニズムを実証してきました。
これまでに蓄積されたエビデンスは下記のとおりです。
（１） 放射線照射ラットの副作用軽減作用
（２） 抗腫瘍剤による毒性誘発ラットに対する効果
（３） 抗腫瘍剤の副作用によるマウスの体重減少に対する有効性
（４） デキストラン硫酸ナトリウム（DSS）誘起大腸炎に対する保護作用
（５） フェレットに対する抗腫瘍剤誘起催吐防止作用
◎日本フードファクター学会で、新素材「米ケフィラン」について最新の研究成果を発表。
日本フードファクター学会（JSoFF）第９回学術集会が、１２月６・７日兵庫県・淡路夢舞台国際会議場で開催され、弊社・前田浩明研究開発部長は、新食品素材「米ケフィラン」についての最新の研究成果を発表しました。
今回の発表は、「米成分を主な培地として用いて生成させた乳酸菌発酵物の性状」と題し、大阪府立大学大学院農業生命科学研究所（北村進一教授）との共同研究によります。
研究は、高脂肪食を負荷した高血圧ラットを用いて、ケフィラン及びケフィラン含有乳酸菌発酵物を３０日間投与することにより、脂質代謝改善作用ならびに血圧上昇抑制について検討したものです。
研究の結果、ケフィラン及びケフィラン含有乳酸菌発酵物が機能性食品素材として生活習慣病の予防と改善に利用できる可能性が示唆されました。
脂質代謝改善作用の作用機序については、現在さらなる検討を行っています。
弊社の「米ケフィラン」は、乳酸菌の世界的権威である光岡知足博士（東京大学名誉教授）のもと、農林水産省の助成事業として５年間にわたって研究を進めてきたもので、「コメ培地による乳酸菌発酵食品」という従来の常識を覆したことが大きな特徴です。いくつかの試験結果については、すでに海外の学術誌に論文として発表されて、内外で注目を集めています。
■☆新素材”米ケフィラン”トピックス☆
「バイオブラン」「NKCP」に次ぐ新素材「米ケフィラン」について全6回シリーズでお届けします。
第5回・・・「米ケフィラン」の多彩な有用性-2
弊社の「米ケフィラン」はラットを用いた試験結果から
（１）血圧上昇抑制・抗動脈硬化作用／（２）整腸作用／（３）脂質代謝改善作用／（４）血糖降下作用
など多彩な機能が明らかになってきました。
今回は（３）・（４）についてご紹介します。
☆脂質代謝改善作用
高脂肪食を負荷した高血圧ラットを用いて、ケフィラン及びケフィラン含有乳酸菌発酵物を30日間投与することにより、脂質代謝改善作用ならびに血圧上昇抑制について検討。
研究の結果、① ケフィラン及びケフィラン含有乳酸菌発酵物投与群に濃度依存的に脂質代謝の改善及び血圧上昇の抑制が認められた。
② 脳ならびに大動脈、冠状動脈における病理組織学的な検査の結果、コントロール群(対照群）に脳底動脈及び大動脈弓部の内膜に脂質沈着が認められたが、ケフィラン投与群は病変が軽度であり、認められた個体数も少なかった。
これらの結果から、ケフィラン及びケフィラン含有乳酸菌発酵物が機能性食品素材として生活習慣病の予防と改善に利用できる可能性が示唆された。
☆血糖降下作用
糖尿病モデルマウスを用いてケフィランの経口投与による血糖降下作用を検討した。投与期間は30日間とした。その結果、ケフィラン投与マウスは濃度依存的に満腹時および空腹時血糖の上昇抑制が認められ、コントロール群（対照群）と有意差が確認された。実験で観察された現象は食物繊維が糖質吸収を物理的に遅延するという血糖降下作用機序に類似しており、ケフィランはその作用を持つ素材であると考えられる。

■健康お役立ち情報
【1】「植物療法（Phytotherapy）について」
植物療法（フィトテラピー）は、ヨーロッパに古くから伝わる伝統医療で、現代の西洋医学の起源といわれています。なかでもハーブは最も古い歴史をもつフィトテラピーで、これはアジアやアメリカでも、医薬品として使われています。また、ハーブといえば、日本ではすぐハーブティが連想されますが、中にはイギリスやドイツ、フランスなどでは医薬品として利用されているものが少なくありません。
アメリカでは、最近ハーブが栄養補助食品として広く利用されるようになりましたが、これは栄養補助食品に関する新しい法律「ＤＳＨＥＡ法」（Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act）が1994年に成立し、1999年に施行されたことによります。
医薬品として規制の厳しいヨーロッパに比べ、アメリカではビタミン剤のように自由に販売されていることや値段が比較的安いことなどから、ハーブのマーケットは年々大きくなっていると言われます。
植物療法は、植物がもつ有効成分を活用する医学ですが、これはインドのアーユルヴェーダや中国の漢方といったもう一方の伝統医学とも共通しており、まさに医学の原点と言えます。
西洋医学で一般的に用いられる化学薬品は、特定の症状を治す抜群の効果がある反面、副作用も懸念されますが、こうした反省から植物のもつ力に期待が集まっているわけです。自然界にあるものを活用するこの手法は、代替医療の中でも最も古く、また代表的なものであるといえましょう。
私たちの周辺でも、植物療法は、従来の病気の治療から予防、健康維持といった健康法としても見直されるようになってきました。
日本では、アメリカ同様に天然物由来の抽出物が薬品として承認されるのは難しいですが、最近のアメリカではＦＤＡがハーブ製剤について医薬品として承認に向けた検討を進めているといわれますので、この流れは日本にも波及することが期待されます。

DHEA――スーパーマンは作れない
DHEAというサプリメントを聞いたことがありますか。正式な成分名は「デヒドロエピアンドロステロン」。アメリカでサプリメントとして販売され、日本でも個人輸入すれば使用可能となっています。
もともと体内にある物質で、20歳代でピークに到達した後、加齢とともに減少します。寿命の長さと関連するという報告もあり、「アンチエイジング成分ではないか」とみられています。
04年11月のアメリカの医学専門誌には、加齢による体内DHEAの低下が見られる56人の男女（65～78歳）を2つのグループに分け、一方には1日50㎎のDHEAサプリメントを、もう一方には偽薬(プラセボ)を摂取してもらった研究があります。6カ月後には、内臓周囲の脂肪の面積がプラセボ群では2平方㎝増加したのに対し、DHEA群では13平方㎝減少していました。皮下脂肪も同様の傾向でした。
他にも骨密度の上昇、性的関心の改善といった働きがヒトの試験で明らかにされています。アンチエイジングの可能性は考えられるのでしょうが、現時点ではその使用には慎重であるべきとする専門家もいます。
というのも、体内での働きや長期的な影響が未解明であるからです。
DHEAは体内で性ホルモンに変化するため、性ホルモンの濃度が上昇して体に悪影響を及ぼすことも考えられます。
もっとも、アンチエイジングとは言っても「スーパンマン（ウーマン）を作るものではない」（フランスのボリュー医師ら）。
これだけは確かなようです。

軽症高血圧を含めると、我が国の３０歳以上の高血圧者は３０００万人と推定されます。高血圧がもたらす障害は、心臓、脳、腎臓など主要な臓器に及びます。ですから中高年の血圧コントロールは、肥満、糖尿病、高脂血症対策と並んで動脈硬化予防の重要な手段となります。
血圧測定は若いうちは定期健康診断でも充分ですが、高血圧家系のある方、高血圧を合併し易い肥満、特に内臓脂肪型肥満、2型糖尿病、高脂血症を有する方では、血圧の自己測定による血圧モニターが欠かせません。
医療機関等での血圧測定に際しては「白衣性高血圧」といって通常生活での血圧値よりも、より高い血圧値を示す場合がみられます。
例えば、中等度の高血圧がみられ薬物療法を行っている場合など医療機関だけの血圧値で治療をすすめていくと、通常の生活では血圧が下がり過ぎてしまっているということが起こり得ますので、高血圧と診断された場合、そして高血圧の治療をしていく場合には、血圧の自己測定による管理が欠かせなくなります。
この際には上腕か手首ではかる血圧測定器を用い、1日の血圧変動を記録して治療上の参考にしてもらいます。
なお医療機関ではかる血圧値は上（収縮期血圧）が140mmHg以上、下（拡張期血圧）が90mmHg以上で異常（高血圧）と診断されます。
これに相当する家庭血圧は白衣性高血圧分を差し引く結果、上が135mmHg、下が80mmHgとなり、これ以下へのコントロールが望まれます。

With the rapid increase in medical costs and issues with mixed medical care, the environment surrounding healthcare is becoming increasingly challenging, and as a company responsible for health, we deeply feel the weight of responsibility and mission.

The 5th Kyushu Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research Roundtable was held on November 27 in Fukuoka City, bringing together numerous doctors and medical professionals. Our company's Head of Research and Development, Hiroaki Maeda, presented on "Side Effect Reduction Effects of Biobran in Chemotherapy," leading to active exchanges of opinions with medical professionals.
More than 10 years have passed since Bio Bran was developed, and many users undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy have reported reduced side effects from these treatments. Our company has conducted numerous animal experiments to support these efforts, demonstrating its effects and mechanisms.
The evidence accumulated so far is as follows.

The 9th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Food Factors (JSoFF) was held on December 6 and 7 at the Awaji Yumebutai International Conference Hall in Hyogo Prefecture, where our company's Head of Research and Development, Hiroaki Maeda, presented the latest research results on the new food ingredient "rice kefiran."
This presentation is the result of joint research titled "Properties of Lactic Acid Bacteria Fermented Products Produced Using Rice Components as the Main Medium," conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Life Sciences, Osaka Prefecture University (Professor Shinichi Kitamura).
The study investigated the effects of improving lipid metabolism and suppressing blood pressure rise by administering kefiran and kefiran-containing lactic acid bacteria fermentation products for 30 days in hypertensive rats fed a high-fat diet.
The results of the research suggest that kefilan and kefiran-containing lactic acid bacteria fermented products may be used as functional food ingredients to help prevent and improve lifestyle-related diseases.
Further investigation is currently underway into the mechanism of lipid metabolism improvement.
Our company's "Rice Kefiran" has been researched for five years under Dr. Tomitari Mitsuoka, a world-renowned authority on lactic acid bacteria (Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo), as a Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries grant project. Its major feature is overturning the conventional wisdom of "lactic acid bacteria fermented foods using rice substrate." Several test results have already been published as papers in overseas academic journals, attracting attention both domestically and internationally.

Our company's 'Rice Kefilan' is based on test results using rats,
(1) Suppression of blood pressure rise and anti-arteriosclerosis / (2) Intestinal regulation effect / (3) Lipid metabolism improvement effect / (4) Blood sugar-lowering effect
and many other features have become clear.
This time, we will introduce points (3) and (4).
☆ Improves lipid metabolism
Using hypertensive rats loaded with a high-fat diet, administering kefiran and kefiran-containing lactic acid bacteria fermentation for 30 days was investigated for improving lipid metabolism and suppressing blood pressure rise.
The results of the study showed (1) concentration-dependent improvements in lipid metabolism and suppression of blood pressure elevation in the kefiran and kefiran-containing lactic acid fermentation group.
(2) Histological pathological examination of the brain, aorta, and coronary arteries showed lipid deposits in the basilar artery and the intimase of the aortic arch in the control group, whereas the Kefiran-treated group had mild lesions and a small number of individuals.
These results suggest that kefilan and kefiran-containing lactic acid bacteria fermented products may be used as functional food ingredients for the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases.
☆ Blood Sugar-Lowering Effect
Using diabetic model mice, the blood sugar-lowering effect of oral administration of kefiran was investigated. The administration period was set at 30 days. As a result, kefiran-treated mice showed concentration-dependent suppression of blood glucose elevation during fullness and fasting, with a significant difference compared to the control group. The observed phenomenon in the experiment is similar to the blood sugar-lowering mechanism by which dietary fiber physically delays sugar absorption, and kefiran is considered a material with this effect.

[1] "About Phytotherapy"
Phytotherapy is a traditional medicine passed down in Europe since ancient times and is said to be the origin of modern Western medicine. Among these, herbs have the oldest history in phytotherapy and are also used as medicines in Asia and America. Also, while herbal tea is immediately associated with herbal tea in Japan, many are also used as medicines in countries like the UK, Germany, and France.
In the United States, herbs have recently become widely used as dietary supplements, thanks to the enactment of a new dietary supplement law, the DSHEA Act (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act) in 1994 and its enforcement in 1999.
Compared to Europe, where regulations are stricter as pharmaceuticals, in the U.S., herbs are sold freely like vitamins and are relatively affordable, so the herbal market is said to be growing year by year.
Phytotherapy is medicine that utilizes the active ingredients found in plants, and this is also common to other traditional medicines such as Ayurveda in India and Chinese herbal medicine, making it truly the origin of medicine.
Chemicals commonly used in Western medicine are highly effective at treating specific symptoms, but side effects are also a concern; this reflection raises expectations for the power of plants. This method of utilizing natural substances is the oldest and most representative in alternative medicine.
Around us, phytotherapy has also begun to be re-evaluated not only for treating traditional diseases but also as a health method for prevention and maintaining health.
In Japan, as in the United States, it is difficult for extracts derived from natural products to be approved as pharmaceuticals, but recently in the U.S., the FDA is reportedly considering the approval of herbal preparations as pharmaceuticals, so this trend is expected to spread to Japan as well.

DHEA—You Can't Make Superman
Have you ever heard of a supplement called DHEA? Its official ingredient name is 'dehydroepiandrosterone.' It is sold as a supplement in the United States and can be used in Japan if you import it individually.
These substances are originally present in the body, peak in their twenties, and then decrease with age. There are also reports linking them to longer lifespan, leading to speculation that these may be anti-aging ingredients.
A study published in an American medical journal in November 2004 divided 56 men and women (aged 65~78) with age-related decline in their bodies into two groups: one received 50mg of DHEA supplements per day, and the other received a placebo. After six months, the area of visceral fat increased by 2 square centimeters in the placebo group, while in the DHEA group, it decreased by 13 square centimeters. Subcutaneous fat showed a similar trend.
Human studies have also shown effects such as increased bone density and improved sexual interest. While anti-aging potential is possible, some experts currently advise caution when using it.
This is because its function inside the body and its long-term effects remain unclear.
DHEA is converted into sex hormones in the body, so increased levels of sex hormones may negatively affect the body.
However, although it is called anti-aging, it is not something that "creates a superman (woman)" (such as Dr. Beau and others in France).
This one thing seems certain.

■Serialized Series... Part 11: Controlling High Blood Pressure Starts with Self-Measurement

Including mild hypertension, it is estimated that there are 30 million people aged 30 and older with high blood pressure in our country. The damage caused by hypertension affects major organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys. Therefore, blood pressure control in middle-aged and older adults is an important means of preventing arteriosclerosis, alongside measures against obesity, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.
While blood pressure measurement is sufficient during regular health check-ups when young, for those with a family history of hypertension or those prone to hypertension due to obesity, particularly visceral fat-type obesity, type 2 diabetes, or hyperlipidemia, monitoring blood pressure through self-measurement is indispensable.
During blood pressure measurement in medical institutions, there can be cases of "white coat hypertension," where blood pressure readings appear higher than usual daily values.
For example, in cases of moderate hypertension receiving pharmacotherapy, if treatment is based only on blood pressure measured at medical institutions, it is possible that blood pressure could be lowered too much during normal daily life. Therefore, for individuals diagnosed with hypertension and for those undergoing hypertension treatment, management through self-measurement of blood pressure becomes essential.
At this time, it is recommended to use a blood pressure monitor for the upper arm or wrist, recording daily blood pressure fluctuations to serve as a reference for treatment.
At medical institutions, blood pressure values are diagnosed as abnormal (hypertension) if the upper (systolic) is 140 mmHg or higher, and the lower (diastolic) is 90 mmHg or higher.
Corresponding home blood pressure, after accounting for white coat hypertension, would be 135 mmHg systolic and 80 mmHg diastolic, and it is desirable to maintain control below these levels.

Did everyone visit a shrine for hatsumode during the New Year? Kawasaki Daishi, relatively close to my home, as everyone knows, becomes extremely crowded with visitors every New Year's. I visited on the 3rd and waited in line for about an hour and a half.
Near Kawasaki Daishi, there are many kuzumochi (kudzu rice cake) shops lined up, and I particularly enjoy having kuzumochi from a shop called Sumiyoshi.
