我们公司今年再次参加了“食品开发展2008”（由日本CMP主办，厚生劳动省、农林渔业省等支持），于10月15日星期三~10月17日星期五在东京大观台举办。我们展示了旗舰产品。
此次展出的产品包括近年来在国内外广受欢迎的“Bio Blanc”;以其纳托罗酶闻名的“NKCP”;以及纯以大米种植的稻米制成的“米克菲兰”，这是一种纯粹由日本人主食大米培育而成的米制产品。所有这些产品都以安全和保障为首位，强调证据，展位收到了大量顾客热情的提问和咨询。

◎「食品開発展2008」に、バイオブラン、NKCP、米ケフィランを出展
10月15日(水)～17日（金）、東京ビッグサイトで開催された「食品開発展2008」(主催：CMPジャパン、後援：厚生労働省、農林水産省他)に当社は今年も参加。主力商品を出展しました。
今回出展したのは、このところ国内はもとより海外で人気を高めている「バイオブラン」、ナットウプロテアーゼで知られる「NKCP」、それに、日本人の主食である米を培地として純粋培養したLK乳酸菌米培地生成物「米ケフィラン」の3商品です。どの商品も、安心・安全を第一とし、エビデンスを重視した確かなもので、ブースではお客さまの熱心な質問や相談が相次ぎました。
また、今回も出展社プレゼンテーションに参加。「ナットウプロテアーゼの長期摂取による自覚症状の変化」と題して、研究開発部長の加藤久宣が最新の研究成果を発表しました。当社としては、今後もこのような展示会を通じて商品やサービスについて、的確に正しい情報をお伝えしていきたいと考えております。

【33】あのサリドマイドが復活
催奇形性の問題で販売が中止されたサリドマイドが、血液がんの1種である「多発性骨髄腫（たはつせいこつずいしゅ）」の治療薬として10月、再び承認されました。
「命を助ける薬を早く使いたい」という患者の思いと、「深刻な薬害を決して繰り返さない」という被害者の思いをともに満たす安全管理体制が模索されてきました。
サリドマイドががんに効く理由の1つに「血管新生阻害作用」があります。がん細胞は自らの栄養補給路として血管を作るので、それを阻害すれば、がんの「兵糧攻め」が可能です。半面、妊娠中の服用で胎児の発育が阻害されてしまい、手足が短いなどの異常につながったわけです。
こうした事態を繰り返さないために、処方する医療機関を限定することや、避妊を徹底すること、服薬状況（飲み残しがないか）をチェックすることなどの安全管理システムが、患者団体、被害者団体を含めた協議によって構築されました。
今後の課題はシステムがいかに適切に運用されるかですが、その前に「薬価（薬の公定価格）」をいくらに設定するかという問題が残っています。こちらに関しては、「患者の経済的負担が軽い」「企業は事業を維持できる」の双方の折り合いをつけることが求められます。

紅葉の季節がやってまいりました。
紅葉を辞書で調べてみると、秋に起こる落葉樹の葉の色が変わる現象となっています。もちろん紅色だけではなく、黄色もあります。
それぞれ紅色になるものを紅葉、黄色になるものを黄葉と言いますが、実際には全て紅葉として捉えることが一般的です。
なぜ夏の緑色から秋の紅色に変わるのでしょうか？
普段葉が緑色に見えるのは「クロロフィル」が含まれているためです。
ですが、夏から秋にかけて徐々に日照時間が短くなり、さらに気温も下がってしまうため、そのクロロフィルが分解されてしまいます。
また、それと同時に葉で作られた糖などが葉に蓄積し、その糖から光合成を利用することで別な色素が作られます。その途中で葉の色が変化し、紅葉が起こります。
一般的に紅葉は葉に蓄積した糖と紫外線の影響で発生した「アントシアン」に由来し、黄葉は若葉の頃から含まれている「カルテノイド」の影響に由来します。
カルテノイドは普段から含まれていますが、葉緑素の色の方が強いため、目で確認することができません。
最近林野庁が、イライラしたときや、疲れているときなどは大自然のもたらす心理的効果や生理的効果により、健康回復・健康維持などが期待できる森林療法について研究を進めています。できる限り自然を保護し、残していきたいものです。

Our company participated again this year in the "Food Development Exhibition 2008" (hosted by CMP Japan, supported by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, etc.) held at Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, October 15 ~ Friday, October 17. We exhibited our flagship products.
The exhibited products this time were "Bio Blanc," which has recently gained popularity both domestically and internationally; "NKCP," known for its nattoprotease; and "Rice Kefiran," a rice medium product made purely from rice cultivated from rice, a staple food for Japanese people. All of these products prioritized safety and security and emphasized evidence, and the booth received a flood of enthusiastic questions and consultations from customers.
We also participated in exhibitor presentations this time as well. Under the theme "Changes in Subjective Symptoms Due to Long-Term Intake of Nattoprotease," Hisanori Kato, Head of Research and Development, presented the latest research findings. We aim to continue providing accurate and accurate information about our products and services through exhibitions like this.

[33] That Thalidomide Returns
Thalidomide, which had been discontinued due to teratogenicity issues, was re-approved in October as a treatment for multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
A safety management system has been sought to satisfy both patients' desire to use life-saving medicine quickly and victims' desire to never repeat serious drug injuries.
One reason thalidomide is effective against cancer is its 'angiogenesis inhibitory effect.' Cancer cells create blood vessels as their own supply routes, so by inhibiting them, you can 'attack the enemy' against cancer. On the other hand, taking it during pregnancy can inhibit fetal development, leading to abnormal conditions such as short limbs.
To prevent such incidents from recurring, a safety management system was established through consultations involving patient and victim groups, including limiting the medical institutions that prescribe prescriptions, thoroughly implementing contraception, and checking medication usage (checking for missed doses).
The future challenge is how to operate the system appropriately, but before that, the issue remains of how much to set for the "drug price (official price of drugs)." In this regard, it is necessary to strike a balance between "the light financial burden on patients" and "the company can sustain its business."

If you look up 'autumn leaves' in a dictionary, you'll find that it is a phenomenon where the color of deciduous leaves changes in autumn. Of course, it's not just red—yellow is also available.
The red leaves are called 'autumn leaves,' and those that turn yellow are called 'yellow leaves,' but in reality, it is common to regard all of them as autumn leaves.
Why does the green in summer change to the crimson in autumn?
The reason the leaves usually appear green is because they contain chlorophyll.
However, from summer to autumn, daylight hours gradually shorten and temperatures drop, causing chlorophyll to break down.
At the same time, sugars and other substances produced in the leaves accumulate, and by utilizing photosynthesis from these sugars, other pigments are produced. During this process, the color of the leaves changes, leading to the autumn foliage.
Generally, autumn leaves are derived from 'anthocyanins' produced by accumulated sugars and ultraviolet rays, while yellow leaves are due to 'cartenoids' present in their young leaves.
Cartenoids are present in everyday life, but because chlorophyll is stronger, they cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Recently, the Forestry Agency has been advancing research on forest therapy, which can help restore and maintain health through the psychological and physiological effects brought by nature when you feel irritated or tired. We want to protect and preserve nature as much as possible.
