4月12日星期五，澳大利亚最古老的国立大学悉尼大学“2008年综合癌症会议”举行，医生们在170多名与会医护人员面前展示了最新的研究成果。
Ben Pfeifer博士做了题为《综合肿瘤学方法治疗前列腺和乳腺癌》的演讲，
基于他在Aeskulap癌症中心的治疗案例，他就整合治疗，特别是乳腺癌和前列腺癌进行了讲座。在本次讲座中，Pfeifer先生透露，本公司开发和生产的Biobran已应用于所有癌症患者，并解释了其效果及研究成果。

第62届日本营养与食品科学学会年会（由日本营养与食品科学会主办）于2008年5月2~4日在女子营养大学坂户校区举行。会上，由千叶大学园艺研究生院生物资源化学系的江城教授及其他成员领导的团队，介绍了我公司“Biobran”（酶处理米糠半纤维素中D-半乳糖胺抑制成分：Biobran对肝损伤的疗效）的研究。
此前，团队发现，将香菇菌培养过滤液中的酶应用于富含半纤维素的米糠（主要是阿拉伯诺基兰）获得的一种物质（Biobran）能够抑制大鼠D-半乳糖胺（GalN）引起的肝损伤的发生。本研究中，为了考察Biobran中抑制GalN诱导肝损伤的成分，我们使用Biobran的盐酸水解物进行实验，以探讨抑制GalN诱导肝损伤的成分。
实验使用4周大的Wistar型雄性大鼠;肝损伤由腹腔内注射800 mg/kg体重的GalN引发，24小时后通过测量血清GOT和GPT活性评估损伤严重程度，这两者是肝损伤的指标。
此外，Biobran溶解于水中，并在GalN给药前一小时口服。
在比较Biobran对肝损伤抑制活性作用的效果时，在100°C下水解1N盐酸溶液1小时后，观察到其肝损伤抑制活性足够。基于这些发现，未来还会有更多关于biobran的研究。

我们的美国本地子公司DHD公司（大和健康发展公司）参加了于4月25日星期五~4月27日星期日在美国奥兰多举办的“第十七届抗衰老医学与再生生物医学世界大会”。我们展示了主要产品：“生物麸皮医学”和“NKCP”。
该展览由享有盛誉的美国抗衰老医学学会主办，展出了300多家制造商，地点在盖洛德棕榈酒店及会议中心。活动期间共有2500名参与者，主要是医疗专业人士。
组织者为非营利组织，向公民提供抗衰老医学的信息和宣传，同时也向医生提供信息，支持临床试验等研究资金，并在该领域拥有强大影响力。该学会未来有望进一步发展。

第13届国际食品配料/添加剂展览暨会议（ifia JAPAN 2008）和第6届健康食品博览会（HFE JAPAN 2008）于5月21日（周三）~23日（周五）在东京Big Sight（由食品化学报主办，获厚生劳动省、农林渔业省等支持）为期三天，我们公司展示了主要产品。
此次参展商包括近15年来稳固市场形象的“生物麸（稻糠阿拉伯氧基衍生物）”;因其新功能和实用性吸引研究人员和医疗机构关注的天然酶“NKCP”;以及在农业林业渔业部新食品创造技术研究协会支持下，历时八年商业化的“稻米克菲兰”（LK乳酸菌米介质产品）。
关于“米饭克菲兰”，会议期间举办了研讨会和企业展示，讨论其实用性。
研讨会上，世界知名肠道微生物群研究权威（东京大学名誉教授、农业博士）三冈智孝先生讲述了肠道微生物群及米饭开菲兰的实用性;在企业演讲中，研发部负责人加藤久义介绍了其对代谢综合征的应用。
稻米开菲兰含有高浓度的粘稠多糖克菲兰。它也是一种低脂乳酸发酵产品，含有生产克菲兰和稻米衍生成分的LK乳酸细菌细胞。研讨会和企业演讲引起了人们对米克菲兰实用性的高度关注。
此外，大和制药推出了主要由米可菲兰制成的产品，“LK500”（面向医疗机构）和“Kefila”（供药房使用），均获得极佳评价。

[28] 戒烟是一种熟悉且有效的预防医学
你是否尝试过戒烟，但随着时间推移会变得易怒或无法抗拒吸烟？
你会想，“我戒不了烟，因为意志力很弱”吗？
近年来，人们无法戒烟的原因已经变得明显，实际上是一种真正的“疾病”，称为“尼古丁成瘾”。换句话说，身体渴望香烟，以获得吸烟带来的满足感和愉悦。
从这个角度看，“治疗方法”被开发出来，一些医疗机构提供健康保险覆盖的戒烟治疗（12周治疗的自付费用约为1万~2万日元）。
其中一种方法是用口香糖或贴片代替香烟来补充尼古丁。
此外，一种名为valenicrin的口服药物，其作用不同，已被批准。
一项研究显示，如果你在医生处方下持续服用该药物12周，在最后四周内，65%的人会避免吸一根烟。
副作用包括恶心。
据说香烟烟雾中含有200多种有害物质，吸烟会使肺癌、心脏病及其他疾病的风险增加约2~4.5倍。
这些有害物质更多地存在于香烟尾端的“二手烟”中，而非直接吸入的“主流烟雾”。
换句话说，它不仅伤害个人，也伤害周围不吸烟的人。
戒烟是一种熟悉且有效的预防药物。

オーストラリア最古の国立大学であるシドニー大学で、4月12日（金）、「Integrative Cancer Conference 2008」が開催され、出席した170人を超える医療従事者を前に、ドクターによる最新の研究結果が発表されました。
Dr.Ben Pfeiferは、「Integrative Oncology Approachto Prostate and Breast Cancer」と題して、スイスの
Aeskulap Cancer Centerでの自身の治療例をもとに、とくに乳がん、前立腺がんに対する統合的な治療について講演しました。この中で、Pfeifer氏は、当社の開発・製造によるバイオブランについて、すべてのがん患者に投与していることを明かした上で、その作用や研究結果について解説しました。
Dr．Garth Harrisは、「Chemotherapy Radiotherapy ＆Natural Medicines」のタイトルで講演し、同氏はオーストラリアで20年にわたってがん患者の治療を続けており、バイオブランも使用していますが、とくに抗酸化物質についての関心が高く、実際に治療に使用する抗酸化物質を中心に、その抗がん作用や、抗がん剤治療や放射線治療に対する副作用軽減効果などについて説明しました。
当社のバイオブランについては、すでに世界42カ国で販売されていますが、なかでもヨーロッパやアジア・オセアニア各国での販売がこのところ急激に伸びています。
オーストラリアでは、現在のところ医療関係者ルートで販売されていますが、愛用者にとって非常にいい結果が出ているということから、効果については多くのドクターの評価も高く、今後さらなる飛躍が期待されています。
◎日本栄養・食糧学会でバイオブランに関する研究が発表されました。
第62回日本栄養・食糧学会総会（主催：社団法人日本栄養・食糧学会）が平成20年5月2日～4日に女子栄養大学坂戸キャンパスで開催され、ここで当社の「バイオブラン」に関する研究（酵素処理米糠ヘミセルロースのD-ガラクトサミン誘導肝障害発症抑制成分に関する研究：バイオブランの肝障害に対する有効性）が千葉大学大学院園芸学研究科園芸学部生物資源化学分野の江頭教授らを中心とするグループにより発表されました。
同グループはこれまでに、アラビノキシランを主体としたヘミセルロースを豊富に含む米糠に、椎茸菌培養濾液の酵素を作用させて得られる物質（バイオブラン）にラットのD-ガラクトサミン（GalN）誘導肝障害の発症を抑制する作用があることを見出していましたが、今回は、バイオブラン中に含まれるGalN誘導肝障害発症抑制成分について検討するために、バイオブランの塩酸加水分解物を用いて実験をおこないました。
実験には4週齢のWistar系雄ラットを用い、肝障害は800 mg/kg体重のGalNを腹腔内投与することにより発症させ、24時間後に肝障害の指標となる血清中のGOT, GPT活性を測定して障害の程度を評価しました。
また、バイオブランは、GalN投与の１時間前に水に溶かして経口投与しました。
バイオブランを各種異なる条件下で肝障害抑制活性への影響を比較検討したところ1N塩酸溶液中100℃、１時間の加水分解で十分な肝障害抑制活性が認められました。以上のことから更なるバイオブランの研究が期待されます。

当社のアメリカ現地法人ＤＨＤ Inc．（Daiwa HealthDevelopment Inc.）は、4月25日（金）～27日（日）、アメリカ・オーランドで開催された「17th Annual WorldCongress of Anti-Aging Medicine and Regenerative Biomedical Technologies」に参加。主要商品である「バイオブラン」と「NKCP」を出展しました。
アメリカでも権威のある American Academy of Anti-AgingMedicineの主催によるこの展示会、会場となったGaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center には、300を超えるメーカーが出展。期間中の参加者は、医療関係者を中心に2500人に及びました。
主催者は、市民に対してアンチエイジング医療に関する情報の提供や啓蒙を行なうほか、医師に対しても、情報提供をはじめ、臨床試験などの研究への資金支援等の活動をしている非営利団体で、この分野では強い影響力をもっています。今後この学会の更なる発展が期待できそうです。
◎ifia/HFE JAPAN 2008に出展しました。
第13回国際食品素材／添加物展・会議（ifia JAPAN 2008）、第6回ヘルスフードエキスポ（HFE JAPAN 2008）が5月21日（水）～23日（金）の3日間、東京ビッグサイトで開催され（主催：食品化学新聞社、後援：厚生労働省、農林水産省等）、当社は、主要商品を出展しました。
今回出展したのは、企業の顔として15年近く市場での地位を確かなものにしている「バイオブラン」（米ぬかアラビノキシラン誘導体）、新しい機能や有用性が研究者や医療機関等から注目されているナットウプロテアーゼ「ＮＫＣＰ」、それと、農林水産省が主管するニューフードクリエーション技術研究組合の助成を受け、8年の歳月をかけ製品化した「米ケフィラン」（ＬＫ乳酸菌米培地生成物）。
「米ケフィラン」については、その有用性について会期中にセミナーと企業プレゼンテーションを行いました。
セミナーでは、腸内細菌研究の世界的権威である光岡知足氏（東京大学名誉教授・農学博士）に腸内細菌叢と米ケフィランの有用性についてご講演頂き、企業プレゼンテーションでは、研究開発部部長 加藤久宜がメタボリックシンドロームへの有用性について講演しました。
米ケフィランには、粘質性多糖ケフィランが高濃度に含有されております。また、ケフィランを産生するLK乳酸菌の菌体やお米由来の成分も含まれている低脂質な乳酸発酵物です。セミナーと企業プレゼンテーションでは、米ケフィランの有用性に大きな関心が寄せられました。
なお、大和薬品では、「米ケフィラン」を主原料とした製品、「LK500」（医療機関向け）と、「ケフィーラ」（薬局薬店向け）の販売を開始しており大変に好評頂いております。

【28】禁煙は身近で効果的な予防医療
禁煙にチャレンジしても、時間の経過とともにイライラしてきたり吸いたくてたまらなくなったりして、失敗した経験はありませんか。
「たばこがやめられないのは意志が弱いせい」と思っていませんか。
近年、たばこがやめられないのは、「ニコチン依存症」というれっきとした「病気」だと分かってきました。喫煙による満足感や快感を得ようと、体がたばこを求めるというわけです。
そうした観点から「治療法」も開発され、一部の医療機関では健康保険で禁煙治療が受けられます（12週間の治療で自己負担額は1～2万円が目安）。
その1つが、たばこの代わりにガムや貼り薬でニコチンを補給する方法。
また、別の効き方をするバレニクリンという飲み薬が認可されました。
医師の処方でこの薬を12週間続けると、終盤の4週間、65％の人は1本もたばこを吸わずに済んだという研究もあります。
副作用は吐き気などです。
たばこの煙には、有害物質が200種類以上あるとされ、喫煙によって、肺がんや心臓病などの危険が約2～4.5倍に跳ね上がります。
これらの有害物質は、直接吸い込む「主流煙」よりもたばこの先から立ち込める「副流煙」の方に多く含まれています。
つまり、本人はもちろん、たばこを吸わない周りの人にも害が及びます。
禁煙は身近でかつ効果的な予防医療なのです。

梅雨の時期となりました。
「梅雨」というのは梅の雨と書きますが、語源は何でしょうか?
この時期は湿度が高く黴（カビ）が生えやすいことから「黴雨（ばいう）」と呼ばれ、これが同じ音の「梅雨」に転じたという説や、この時期は梅の実が熟す頃であることからという説、この時期は”毎”日のように雨が降るから「梅」という字が当てられたという説があります。
季節柄、湿度が高くなり、病原菌が繁殖しやすい時節になります。
食中毒などにご注意いただき、お体をくれぐれもご自愛ください。

◎ At a seminar in Australia, there was a report on the effects and research results of Bio Bran (Bio Bran Brand).
On Friday, April 12, the University of Sydney, Australia's oldest national university, the "Integrative Cancer Conference 2008" was held, where the latest research findings presented by doctors were presented in front of over 170 healthcare professionals in attendance.
Dr. Ben Pfeifer gave a presentation titled "Integrative Oncology Approach to Prostate and Breast Cancer,"
Based on his own treatment cases at Aeskulap Cancer Center, he gave a lecture on integrative treatment, especially for breast and prostate cancers. In this session, Mr. Pfeifer revealed that Biobran developed and manufactured by our company is administered to all cancer patients and explained its effects and research findings.
Dr. Garth Harris gave a lecture titled "Chemotherapy Radiotherapy & Natural Medicines," where he has been treating cancer patients in Australia for 20 years and also uses Biobran but showed particular interest in antioxidants. He focused on the anticancer effects of antioxidants used in actual treatments, explaining their anticancer effects and the side effect reduction on chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Our bio brand is already sold in 42 countries worldwide, with sales in Europe, Asia, and Oceania countries experiencing rapid growth recently.
In Australia, it is currently sold through healthcare channels, but since it has shown very positive results among users, many doctors highly rate its effectiveness, and further growth is expected in the future.
◎ Research on Bio Bran was presented at the Japan Society of Nutrition and Food Science.
The 62nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nutrition and Food Science (hosted by the Japan Society of Nutrition and Food Science) was held on May 2~4, 2008 at the Sakado Campus of Women's Nutrition University. There, research on our company's "Biobran" (study on the D-galactosamine inhibitory component of enzymatically treated rice bran hemicellulose: efficacy of Biobran against liver injury) was presented by a group led by Professor Egashira and others from the Department of Bioresource Chemistry, Faculty of Horticulture, Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University.
Previously, the group had discovered that a substance obtained by applying enzymes from shiitake fungus culture filtrate to rice bran rich in hemicellulose, mainly arabinoxylan, (Biobran) has an effect on suppressing the onset of D-galactosamine (GalN)-induced liver injury in rats. In this study, to examine the components contained in Biobran that suppress GalN-induced liver injury, we conducted experiments using hydrochloride hydrolysate of Biobran to investigate the components that suppress GalN-induced liver injury.
The experiment used 4-week-old Wistar-type male rats; liver damage was initiated by intraperitoneal administration of GalN at 800 mg/kg body weight, and the severity of the impairment was assessed by measuring serum GOT and GPT activity 24 hours later, which are indicators of liver damage.
Additionally, Biobran was dissolved in water and administered orally one hour before GalN administration.
When comparing the effects of Biobran on liver injury suppression activity under various conditions, sufficient liver injury suppression activity was observed after hydrolysis of 1N hydrochloric acid solution at 100°C for 1 hour. Based on these findings, further research on biobran is expected.
◎ Our U.S. local subsidiary exhibited at the 17th Annual World Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine and Regenerative Biomedical Technologies.
Our U.S. local subsidiary, DHD Inc. (Daiwa Health Development Inc.), participated in the "17th Annual World Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine and Regenerative Biomedical Technologies" held in Orlando, USA, from Friday, April 25 ~ Sunday, April 27. We exhibited our main products: "Bio Bran Medicine" and "NKCP."
This exhibition, hosted by the prestigious American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, featured over 300 manufacturers at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center. During the event, 2,500 participants, mainly healthcare professionals, participated.
The organizers are non-profit organizations that provide information and awareness about anti-aging medicine to citizens, and also provide information to doctors, supporting funding for research such as clinical trials, and wield strong influence in this field. Further development of this society is expected going forward.
◎ Exhibited at ifia/HFE JAPAN 2008.
The 13th International Food Ingredients/Additives Exhibition & Conference (ifia JAPAN 2008) and the 6th Health Food Expo (HFE JAPAN 2008) were held over three days from May 21 (Wed) ~ 23 (Fri) at Tokyo Big Sight (hosted by Food Chemical Newspaper, supported by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, etc.), and our company showcased its main products.
The exhibitors this time included "Bio Bran (rice bran arabinoxylane derivatives)," which has firmly established a market position as a corporate face for nearly 15 years; nattoprotease "NKCP," which is attracting attention from researchers and medical institutions for its new functions and usefulness; and "Rice Kefiran" (LK lactic acid bacteria rice medium product), which was commercialized over eight years with support from the New Food Creation Technology Research Association under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Regarding "rice kefiran," seminars and corporate presentations were held during the conference to discuss its usefulness.
At the seminar, Mr. Tomotari Mitsuoka, a world-renowned authority in gut microbiota research (Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, Doctor of Agriculture), gave a lecture on the gut microbiota and the usefulness of rice kefiran, and in the corporate presentation, Hisayoshi Kato, Head of the Research and Development Department, spoke about its usefulness for metabolic syndrome.
Rice kefiran contains a high concentration of the viscous polysaccharide kefiran.
