【20】关于前列腺癌筛查的利弊争论
PSA（前列腺特异抗原）是由前列腺分泌的物质。当患有前列腺癌或前列腺增生等疾病时，血液中的PSA会增加，因此通过抽血测量，可以帮助诊断这些疾病，并有助于了解治疗过程。
目前，围绕PSA的争论正在升温。起因是厚生劳动省的研究小组欲制定的“前列腺癌筛查指南”。
9月10日，这一方案被公布，报道内容为：“（作为居民体检的）集体筛查不推荐实施”。
另一方面，日本泌尿学会在研究小组方案公布之前，提出了一份要求书，表示“如果得出‘应停止作为居民体检’的结论，（略）最终可能会给国民带来重大不利影响”，该学会正在准备向一般居民出版独立的指南，因此今后的动向备受关注。
另外，厚劳省研究小组并非全面否定自愿参加的人体体检等PSA筛查。此外，对于用于观察前列腺癌等治疗过程的检查，也属于此次讨论的另一个层面，需要明确说明。

◎「ＮＫＣＰ」が台湾で血液粘度低下剤として特許登録
当社では、台湾政府に申請していた精製ナットウ菌培養物「ＮＫＣＰ」の特許につき、このたび正式に認可が下り登録されました。
日本でも現在特許を申請中ですが、血液粘度低下剤としての今回の特許登録は、今年４月の韓国に次いで二番目となります。
「ＮＫＣＰ」については、納豆菌由来の生成物として、血栓溶解作用に加え、血液凝固能力遅延および血栓形成抑制作用などさまざまな作用が認められていますが、今回の特許登録は、「ＮＫＣＰ」が新たな機能性製剤として認められたことになり、製品の確かさがさらに実証され、期待が膨らんだことになります。

【２０】前立腺がん検診めぐり賛否
PSA（前立腺特異抗原）とは、前立腺から分泌される物質。前立腺がんや前立腺肥大症などに罹ると血液中のPSAが増加するので、採血で測定することで、これらの病気の診断につなげたり、治療経過の把握に役立てたりします。
今、このPSAをめぐって議論が沸き起こっています。発端は厚生労働省の研究班が策定しようとしている「前立腺がん検診ガイドライン」。
9月10日にはこの案が公表され、「（住民検診のような）集団検診として実施することは勧められない」
との内容が報道されました。
一方、日本泌尿器科学会は、研究班案の公表に先立ち「”住民検診としては中止すべき”との結論が出されると、（中略）最終的には国民に大きな不利益を招くことになるものと危惧される」とする要望書を出しています。同学会は独自のガイドラインを一般住民向けに刊行する準備を進めているということで、今後の動向が注目されます。
なお、厚労省研究班は、自らの意思で受診する人間ドックなどを含めたPSA検診を全否定しているわけではありません。さらに、前立腺がんなどの治療経過を見るために検査をしている場合については、今回の話とは別の次元であることを明記しておきます。

Our company has now officially received approval and registration for the patent for the purified nuthatch culture material 'NKCP' that we had applied for with the Taiwanese government.
Although patents are currently being applied for in Japan, this patent registration for the blood viscosity reduction agent is the second after South Korea's registration in April this year.
Regarding "NKCP," a product derived from natto bacteria, it has been recognized for various effects such as thrombolytic effects, delayed blood coagulation ability, and inhibition of thrombosis formation. This patent registration means that "NKCP" has been recognized as a new functional preparation, further demonstrating the product's reliability and raising expectations.

[20] Pros and Cons Regarding Prostate Cancer Screening
PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a substance secreted by the prostate. When affected by prostate cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia, the PSA levels in the blood increase, so measuring it through a blood test can help diagnose these diseases or monitor the progress of treatment.
Currently, there is a debate regarding this PSA. The trigger was the "Prostate Cancer Screening Guidelines" that the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's research team is attempting to establish.
This draft was made public on September 10, and it was reported that it includes a statement that "(It is not recommended to conduct as a mass screening such as resident checkups)."
On the other hand, the Japanese Urological Association, prior to the announcement of the research team's draft, submitted a request stating that "if the conclusion is made that it 'should be discontinued as a resident screening,' (omitted) it is feared that this would ultimately cause significant disadvantage to the public." The association is reportedly preparing to publish its own guidelines for the general public, and future developments are being closely watched.
It should be noted that the MHLW research team does not completely deny PSA screening, including voluntary checkups like health assessments. Furthermore, testing done to monitor the progress of treatment for prostate cancer or other conditions is separate from this discussion.
