◎ Exhibited at the 'Food Development Exhibition 2006'. New food ingredient 'rice kephilan' is attracting attention

The "Food Development Exhibition 2006" (hosted by CMP Japan, supported by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and others) was held at Tokyo Big Sight on October 4~6. Our company exhibited our main products, "Bio Bran Rice" and "NKCP," as well as the previously successful and notable "Rice Kefiran."

On the 4th, we also gave a presentation titled "Rice Kefilan—LK Lactic Acid Bacteria and the Legendary Nutrient Source Born from Rice."

This exhibition is one of the world's leading large-scale events, aimed at experts and related companies, aiming to improve food quality, safety, and functionality. During the event, many participants gathered not only from Japan but also from various Asian countries.

With over 500 exhibitors and adverse weather, approximately 15,000 visitors attended every day.

Our exhibition booth has been redesigned once again. As before, the popular "Bio Brann" and "NKCP" products with abundant evidence continued to attract visitors, but this time, especially this time, the new food ingredient "rice kephilan," successfully developed through joint research with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, combined with its groundbreaking feature as a lactic acid bacteria product derived from rice,

It attracted more attention than initially expected, with questions pouring in and even a shortage of materials on the first day.

Regarding "rice kefilan," inquiries have been received from domestic and overseas food manufacturers, but our company is also advancing the development of original products.

◎ Presentation on the Anticoagulant and Filial Lytic Effects of "NKCP" at Rheology Forum

54th Rheology Symposium

(Hosted by the Japanese Rheology Society and the Japanese Society of Bio-Rheology) was held over three days from October 4~6 at Kyushu University Chikushi Campus in Fukuoka City, where research presentations on "NKCP" were held.

The presentation was titled "Anticoagulant and Fibrinolytic Effects of Health Foods Derived from Natto Bacteria," led by a research group led by Associate Professor Masahito Ichisugi (Department of Forensic Medicine, Dokkyo Medical University).

Associate Professor Ichisugi examined the effects of natto-derived health foods such as "NKCP," which mainly contains batyropeptidase F, and similar products mainly composed of conventional nattokinase on human blood coagulation and fibrinolytic systems via in-vitro (in vitro tubes). He presented that "NKCP" has stronger anticoagulant effects compared to the other product.

Associate Professor Ichisugi expressed hope for future possibilities, stating that scientifically verifying the effects of health foods and clarifying the evidence is important for consumers, and especially to further examine the extent of batyropeptidase F, which was particularly effective, in commercially available natto.

The increasing number of doctors focusing on the relationship between blood and health is also proof of the reliability of this product.

◎ Seminars for pharmacies and drugstores

Our company held a seminar on October 22 at Shinagawa East Inn for pharmacies and drugstores that handle our products. The seminar began with Dr. Kazufumi Komatsu of Komatsu Pharmaceutical, titled "The Emergence, Maturation, and Decline of the Immune System That Protects the Body," explaining the origin of the immune system and the importance of creating a healthy gut environment for maintaining a healthy immune system, using keywords such as "probiotics," "prebiotics," and "biogenics," using abundant data to clearly explain the importance of creating a healthy gut environment.

In the latter half of the seminar, our R&D Director Hisayoshi Kato explained the basic and clinical data of BioBlanc, and lively questions were asked during the Q&A session after the lecture.

We plan to continue holding similar health information seminars to improve communication with pharmacies and drugstores.

■ Latest Information on Integrated Medicine

[11] Well-Equipped Cancer Information Site

This autumn, the "Cancer Control Information Center" and the "Cancer Support Information Center" were opened one after another, enhancing the provision of information for cancer patients and their families. The "Cancer Control Information Center" was established at the National Cancer Center in October to collect and provide the latest information on cancer treatment. The website "Cancer Information Service" aggregates a wealth of information in an easy-to-understand format, including explanations about various cancers, cancer statistics, glossaries, and Q&A.

You can also search for hospitals by entering conditions such as location and specialist placement.

Meanwhile, the 'Cancer Support Information Center' website began going public in September (all content is scheduled for completion by the end of January next year). This is the operation of the patient-focused cancer magazine 'Cancer Support.' Currently, many of the contents are 'preparing for release,' but for 22 cancers such as stomach and colon, standard treatments are introduced according to progression. There is also information from patient associations and disease battle reports.

The center aims to provide accurate medical information and help with the fight against illness.

Although the organizations and activities of the two are different, both can serve as a platform for those aiming to become "independent patients."
