有一种疾病叫带状疱疹。据说它的名字来源于水泡以带状形式出现在皮肤上。它伴随着刺痛感。在水泡形成之前，皮肤可能会感到疼痛或不适。另一个特征是症状仅限于身体的一侧。这种疾病通常从50岁起加重。
病因是水痘，小时候感染。引起水痘的病毒即使愈合后，体内仍会隐藏很长时间。然后，由于某种触发因素，病毒会出现在皮肤上并形成水泡。
带状疱疹的诱因包括压力、过度劳累和衰老。
通常，皮肤症状会在2~3周内缓解，疼痛也会消失。然而，有些病例可能存在持续多年的疼痛，这被称为“带状疱疹后神经痛”。如果皮肤症状严重，或急性期疼痛较为严重，老年人残留疼痛的可能性较高。
为了避免持续疼痛，症状出现时应尽快就医，开始治疗（如口服药物或止痛药以减缓病毒传播），并继续正确治疗。确保充足休息和营养，尽量避免触碰受影响部位。

大和薬品は8月28日（日）に東京・品川で「第14回薬局・薬店セミナー」を開催しました（品川イーストワンタワー）。今回は「免疫系の発生、成熟、衰退と人体に関する最新情報」をテーマに、ビタミンＤやロコモ対策と筋肉についてなど、充実した内容で講師の先生にお話いただきました。大和薬品では今後とも消費者にとって有益な情報の提供を強化していきます。
■気になるからだ 皮膚に水ぶくれ「帯状疱疹」
帯状疱疹（たいじょうほうしん）という病気があります。皮膚に帯状に水ぶくれが現れるのでこの名前がついたと言われています。ピリピリとした痛みを伴います。水ぶくれが発生する前に、痛みや皮膚の違和感が出ることもあります。体の左右のどちらか片側に症状が限られるのも特徴です。50歳代から増えてくる病気です。
原因は、子どもの頃にかかった「水ぼうそう」です。水ぼうそうを起こすウイルスは、実は治った後も長い間体の中に潜んでいます。そして、何らかのきっかけで、ウイルスが皮膚に出てきて水ぶくれができるのです。
帯状疱疹になるきっかけは、ストレス、過労、加齢などです。
通常は、2～3週間で皮膚の症状は治まり、痛みもなくなります。ただ、中には痛みが何年も残ることがあり、「帯状疱疹後神経痛」と呼ばれます。皮膚の症状が重症だった場合、急性期の痛みが強かった場合、高齢者などでは、痛みが残る可能性が高いとされています。
痛みを残さないためにも、症状が出たら早めに医療機関を受診して治療（ウイルスの増殖を抑える飲み薬や痛み止めなど）を始め、しっかりと続けることが重要です。十分な休養と栄養をとること、患部にはできるだけ触らないことも心がけましょう。

今月の旬の食材はみょうがです。みょうがは英語で「japanese ginger」とよばれ、元々日本のみで嗜好されていた香辛料です。現在でも習慣的に食卓に登場するのはわが国だけといわれています。特に夏の終わりから秋にかけて旬を迎えるので、9月中がもっとも食べ頃です。みょうがの独特な香りの正体は精油成分の「アルファピネン」とよばれるもので、マツやスギなどにも多く含まれます。
「アルファピネン」は芳香作用や消臭作用に加えて抗菌活性がとても強く、口内炎の防止やカゼなどにも良いとされています。

Daiwa Pharmaceutical held the "14th Pharmacy and Drugstore Seminar" in Shinagawa, Tokyo (Shinagawa East One Tower) on Sunday, August 28. There is a disease called shingles. It is said to be named because blisters appear in bands on the skin. It is accompanied by a tingling pain. Before blisters develop, pain or discomfort in the skin may occur. Another characteristic is that symptoms are limited to one side of the body. This disease tends to increase from the age of 50.
The cause is chickenpox, which was contracted as a child. The virus that causes chickenpox actually remains hidden in the body for a long time even after it has healed. Then, due to some trigger, the virus appears on the skin and blisters form.
Triggers for shingles include stress, overwork, and aging.
Usually, skin symptoms subside and the pain disappears within 2~3 weeks. However, some cases may have pain that can persist for years, which is called "postherpetic neuralgia." If the skin symptoms are severe, or the acute phase pain is severe, it is said that the likelihood of residual pain in the elderly is high.
To avoid lingering pain, it is important to visit a medical institution as soon as symptoms appear and start treatment (such as oral medication or painkillers to slow viral growth) and continue properly. Make sure to get enough rest and nutrition, and avoid touching the affected area as much as possible.

This month's seasonal ingredient is myoga. Myoga, called "Japanese ginger" in English, is originally a spice enjoyed only in Japan. Even today, it is said that myoga is the only country that habitually appears on the dining table. It is especially in season from late summer through autumn, so September is the best time to enjoy it. The unique aroma of myoga comes from the essential oil component called "alphapinene," which is also abundant in pine and cedar.
"Alphapinene" not only has aromatic and deodorizing effects, but also strong antibacterial activity, making it effective for preventing mouth ulcers and cold infections.
