■ World Health Report

Even "Weekend Warriors" Have Benefits for Brain Health

A new study has revealed that "weekend warriors," who only exercise once or twice a week, have mental agility in old age comparable to that of people who exercise regularly, compared to those who do not exercise at all. This research, conducted by Gary O’Donovan and colleagues from the Department of Sports Science at Los Andes University (Colombia), was published in the "British Journal of Sports Medicine" on October 29. The research group stated, "This study is the first prospective cohort study to show that both weekend warrior exercise patterns and regular exercise patterns have a similar effect on reducing the risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI)."

The next issue of the "Health Newsletter" is scheduled to be distributed around January 20, 2025.
