■ World Health Report

Bowel Movement Frequency is Related to Health Status

Research by Johannes Johnson-Martinez and colleagues at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, U.S., has revealed that in healthy individuals, the frequency of daily bowel movements (BMF) has a significant impact on health. Differences in gut microbiota genera, blood metabolites, and lifestyle factors were observed depending on BMF, and it was suggested that constipation and diarrhea could potentially negatively affect kidney and liver function. The details of this study were published in "Cell Reports Medicine" on July 16.

The next issue of "Health News Bulletin" is scheduled for distribution around September 20, 2024.
