Do people living near main roads have a higher risk of atopic dermatitis?
Research by Michael Nevid and colleagues at the National Jewish Health in the U.S. suggests that the distance from a main road where a person lives is related to the risk of atopic dermatitis. It is said that people living farther from main roads may have a lower risk of developing atopic dermatitis. This research was presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI 2023, February 24–27, San Antonio, U.S.), and the abstract was published in the February issue (supplement) of The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
■ Health Trivia – Revisiting the Old for Health
157) Gut Health and Well-being ②
During the COVID-19 pandemic, interest in "gut health" to maintain intestinal health and protect against viruses increased. Maintaining a good gut environment not only helps with bowel movements but also benefits immunity, muscle mass, and brain function, and reports suggest that regions where well-being is achieved have more beneficial bacteria in the gut. In this installment of health trivia, continuing from the previous issue, we introduce a lecture by Professor Yuji Naito from the Department of Nutritional Immunology, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine Graduate School, from the online seminar "Gut Health for Well-being" hosted by the Asahi Shimbun Re-Life Project.
The next "e-Health Kawaraban" is scheduled to be distributed around March 20, 2023.
